One Film A Day: Sicario

Today's film of the day is a film that inspired me for a film I'm currently making right now and a film I feel, will continue to inspire me beyond that.

DAY 4 - 3/11/2023

Re-watching this cinematic gem was a wonderfully complete experience. It gave me the opportunity to really notice the beats of tension and suspense in the sound work and narrative.

The way Denis Villeneuve builds the tension is masterful. He truly has the audience in the palm of his hands. The suspenseful feeling that Sicario (2015) has from the beginning of this film right up until its end is really something I'd like to learn how to do going forward.

The purposeful yet efficient and elegant cinematography in this film really informs the story in the dry, sparse, desolate world that Sicario (2015) is set in. The performance by Benicio Del Toro who plays one of the main characters, Alejandro is one of the year's most snubbed performances. He, in my opinion, should have been at the very least nominated for an Academy Award for his chilling performance as the assassin.

Thank you all for reading! See you tomorrow!
