DAY 17 - 18/11/2023
Today's film is one that might not ring a bell for many, but it is directed by Wong Kar-wai and yes, it is in English, and yes it stars Hollywood actors.
The film: My Blueberry Nights (2007)

Jude Law in My Blueberry Nights (2007).
This film is kind of regarded as Wong Kar-wai's "worst" film and is seen as his style just not translating well enough in English or with the American aesthetic.
Personally, I thought the same for a while. But looking back at it, I actually find myself enjoying it a lot more than I'm used to. The film is sad, lonely, but also sweet, and hopeful and has this sense of ambiguity about it that I'm not used to with films set in the USA.
Norah Jones, in her acting debut, delivers a sincere and understated performance as Elizabeth. The supporting cast, including Jude Law, Rachel Weisz, and David Strathairn, brings depth to their respective roles. Each actor effectively conveys the complexities of their characters' emotions, contributing to the film's overall impact.
The music, combined with Wong Kar-wai's visual style, adds a layer of emotional resonance to the storytelling. The soundtrack is fantastic, really. I mean all of Wong's films have amazing soundtracks.
