One Film A Day: Her

DAY 22 - 23/11/2023

A film much like After Yang (2021) and one that I was reminded of by my friend Lewis, was Spike Jonze's film, Her (2013).

Watching this film today brought back so many memories and the soundtrack was still as great as I remember. The film has this calming energy about it. It's like I wouldn't mind living in that world, to be honest. An introvert like me would see that world as a paradise, socially.

That being said though I still feel this inherent sadness in that world. Like a world that's incomplete. Like it's missing something. Even with the AI, Samantha who is played wonderfully I might add, by Scarlett Johansson, feels robotic despite all the human-like things she says and how her voice sounds.

This film has become more and more relevant in the current times we live in, what with ChatGPT and all the other AI's springing up from the ether. So honestly I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone searching for connection or trying to remember a regret.
