DAY 26 - 27/11/2023
Another film I'm including in my assignment is Wong Kar-wai's queer cinema gem, Happy Together (1997).

Happy Together (1997) explores themes of loneliness and alienation, and on a rewatch, the emotional weight of these themes becomes more palpable. The characters' struggle with connection and their internal battles are portrayed with a rawness that resonates deeply upon revisiting the film.
Christopher Doyle's cinematography captures the vibrant urban landscapes of Buenos Aires, providing a stark contrast to the character's internal struggles. On a rewatch, one can delve into the details of the cinematography, appreciating how the city becomes both a backdrop and a character in the story.
The film oscillates between moments of hope and despair, and on subsequent viewings, the emotional impact of these fluctuations becomes more pronounced. Wong Kar-wai skillfully plays with the audience's expectations, crafting a narrative that is both unpredictable and emotionally resonant.

My Rating: 8/10.
