DAY 24 - 25/11/2023
In preparation for Ridley Scott's latest film, Napoleon (2023) I decided to take a little trip down memory lane with the first ever Ridley Scott film I ever laid my eyes upon. Gladiator (2000).

If you haven't seen this film, I highly, highly recommend that you do. This film is a masterpiece from top to bottom. Now watching it again for the first time in at least 5 years, the film feels so transcendent to me. This larger-than-life feeling is beyond perfection in this film. That to me is the soul of cinema. To enthral audiences into believing in a greater ideal of things that were real.
The acting from Russell Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix, Connie Nielsen and Richard Harris in a stellar cast was phenomenal. This was a film that acting-wise is more educational to actors than any formal class or course could ever be.
The cinematography was beautiful. The sweeping landscapes and battle scenes. I mean what an experience this would've been to see in IMAX. The choices of the shots were also masterful as expected from a filmmaker of Ridley's calibre.

My Rating: 10/10.
