DAY 15 - 14/11/2023
Today's film is one of Denis Villeneuve's slightly lesser-known films to the everyday moviegoer, Enemy (2013) starring Jake Gyllenhaal.

This film is continuously inspiring in the way it presents such a well-written and connected narrative with two characters being played by the same actor.
Denis Villeneuve masterfully crafts a dark and tense atmosphere throughout the film. The use of a desaturated colour palette, moody lighting, and a haunting score contribute to the overall sense of unease.
Jake Gyllenhaal delivers a compelling performance in the dual roles of Adam and Anthony, effectively portraying the subtle differences between the two characters. The film's exploration of identity and the blurred lines between the two characters is heightened by Gyllenhaal's nuanced acting.
The film challenges its audience intellectually, requiring active engagement to piece together the narrative and its symbolism. Viewers who appreciate films that provoke thought and discussion will find Enemy (2013) to be a satisfying and thought-provoking experience.

Sarah Gadon's character was a particular favourite of mine even now when I rewatch the film, her performance is just perfect. There are no faults in my book.
My Rating: 9/10.
